Greetings Church! As we gather this year, celebrating our nations 250th birthday, we also celebrate a truly momentous as a denomination milestone: the 225th anniversary of the historic Cane Ridge Revival and the birth of the Stone-Campbell Movement.

The Cane Ridge Revival was a massive, multi-day camp meeting held in Bourbon County, Kentucky, in August 1801. Considered the pinnacle of the movement of the start of Disciples of Christ denomination.

From the very beginning, our founders like Barton W. Stone, Thomas Campbell, and Alexander Campbell were driven by a radical, beautiful vision: a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.

When they gathered on the Kentucky frontier, they sought to break down the walls of division, focusing not on strict creeds, but on the simple, unifying grace of Jesus Christ. They envisioned a church where all are welcome at the Lord’s Table, and where open minds and open hearts guide our journey of faith.

Today, that vision remains as vital and transformative as it was in 1801. As we mark this 225th birthday, we are not just looking back at history; we are looking forward to the future. We are a church that continues to champion Christian unity, advocate for racial reconciliation, and welcome all into the full life and leadership of the church.

Let us carry the bold spirit of our pioneers with us today. May we continue to foster a community where every voice is valued, where the love of God is shared without reservation, and where we strive together to heal a broken world.
