CROS COLLECTIONS TO RESUME!
BOGO (Buy One Get One) Remember when we use to go to the store and buy one and get one to donate to CROSS? Well we are renewing that project at our church. Diana Brammer and Teddi Sofoul will be at the church (Teddi will be at the church on Saturday, Aug. 8, 16, 22, and 29 from 10 am to noon and Diana will be at the church on Wednesday Aug. 12, 19, and 26 from 2pm to 4pm.) and will sit under the overhang to collect donations. All safety protocols (i.e. masks, no touching, etc.) will be followed. We appreciate any and all contributions.
Obviously we are still not able to offer In Person Worship at the church in August as we had hoped, but as the above announcement shows, we still have an opportunity to participate in a much needed mission and ministry. Many people are out of work and it appears that government support will be changing. This is an opportunity for us as a church, to be the church, by making sure people have adequate amounts of food.
As Ruth Mageria, Executive Director of CROS has said, “At a time like this, when COVID-19 has turned our world upside down, I am especially grateful that I can count on your faithful partnership and support. Although this pandemic has left us all feeling vulnerable, it has also reminded me that our community is stronger when we work together.
Over the last 8 weeks, compared to the same 8 weeks in 2019, the number of individuals and families seeking food assistance has almost doubled. Many are visiting the pantries for the first time, while others had not been to the pantry in the last 2 – 3 years, but have now lost their jobs. With children being out of school…the need for food will only continue to increase.
The effects of this pandemic are long term, and we will be experiencing them for months to come. As we all pull together to get through COVID-19, I am reminded of a quote by retired South African Anglican Bishop, Rev. Desmond Tutu, “Do your little bit of good wherever you are. It is those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
It may seem like a small thing, a can of beans, a bag of rice, a box of cereal, a jar of peanut butter, but every little bit helps CROS Ministries to continue to serve the hungry today, tomorrow, and all Year-Round.
Thank you always for your faithfulness and support, not only to the church, but to all people.
God Bless
PS, Apparently there has been some confusion about our online opportunities. These are NOT Zoom meetings, they are video recordings available for you to watch at your convenience. You can even go back and watch ones you may have missed. Feel free to share them with friends and family.
