Our church has a mission statement written and approved by our church leadership board. It sits at the top of this newsletter every month, but that often means our eyes skip over it because it’s always there and it’s always the same. Here it is in a new spot for your review:
Our Mission Statement
“The mission and ministries of First Christian Church are to share the Good News of Jesus Christ by being instruments of God’s unconditional love and grace for all people. We strive to live and practice Jesus’ command to “love one another as you would love yourself.”
We are a dynamic and diverse congregation and invite you to become a part of our church family.
In John 13:34-35 Jesus was even more specific about his instructions when he said, “A new command I give you: Love one another as I have loved you, so must you love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
I take this to heart because if I love someone as I love myself…well, I don’t always love myself not to mention I don’t want to love people who are only like me—my instructions are to love as Jesus loved. Everyone will know we are disciples because we love one another.
We have the opportunity to put our love in action today. We are disciples. This is the time to let everyone know we are disciples.
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
